AT&T is offering the American public all kinds of goods and services from wireless mobile phones, tablets, High Speed Internet service starting at $39.99/mo., TV, Bundles, Accessories, "free" mobile phones, U-Verse, etc...But, what AT&T is not offering Americans is sound advice and wise guidance as to what can happen when anyone agrees to the terms AT&T imposes on a NEW Customer before these "free" goods along with the services are provided the customer.
Take for instance the following Bundle price.
"Bundle price: Includes U-verse® Voice 200, DIRECTV® SELECT™ Package ($19.99 per month for 12 months), and 3Mbps AT&T U-verse® High Speed Internet ($15.00 per month for 12 months). Pricing subject to change.
$15 U-verse® High Speed Internet offer: Price for Pro
(3Mbps) Internet after bill credit for new residential Internet
customers. Requires another AT&T service (TV, Voice, or wireless)
and combined billing of all services on a single AT&T bill. After 12
months, standard rate applies unless canceled or changed by customer.
Must maintain qualifying services for continued receipt of bill credits.
12-month term required. Up to $180 Early Termination Fee applies if
Internet is disconnected before end of term. Promotional pricing applies
to service rates only; excludes taxes, up to $99 installation charge,
and a $7 monthly Internet Equipment Fee. Price includes 250GB of data
per month. An additional $10 charge per 50GB of data usage in excess of
data plan applies. For more information, go to att.com/internet-usage. Offer ends April 13, 2016."
Not only does the customer need to have an ongoing source of income for 12 months sufficient to cover the costs listed in the aforementioned quote, but, the customer must be careful to not exceed the 250 GB of data/month, or, face a $10.00 charge per every 50GB of data overage and if services are cancelled prior to the expiration of a 12 month period, then, the customer will be rewarded with a nice $180 early termination fee.
Is the American Public awake at all?
Who in this country can afford such expensive and contractually restrictive services especially with the meager wages being paid to the greater majority of honest hard working citizens of America?
I can only imagine that a great number of those people who've fallen into this trap with AT&T must now be facing the unwelcome stress of collection notices for having past due balances with the ultra large company.
Thankfully, I am not one of them. I have a month to month prepaid smartphone. No contracts, no terms and conditions. I just pay as I go. ~
